Accessibility statement
What we have built, what we have tested, and what we know is still wrong.
Last updated 28 July 2026 · Target: WCAG 2.2 Level AA · Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (Cth).
Our commitment
Our products are used in classrooms, TAFEs, libraries and community organisations. A tool that only some people can operate is not finished. We target WCAG 2.2 Level AA across this website and every product, and we treat an accessibility defect as a defect, not an enhancement request.
This website
hyvemindsgroup.com is designed to work without JavaScript. Every word of content, every link and both navigation menus are present in the HTML that the server sends. JavaScript adds two things only: the mobile menu drawer and a decorative word animation in the headline. With scripting disabled the site is fully readable and navigable.
- Keyboard — every interactive element is reachable and operable by keyboard, with a visible focus indicator. A "skip to content" link is the first item in the tab order.
- Structure — one
h1per page, headings in order, landmarks for navigation, main content and footer, andaria-currenton the page you are on. - Product tours — the tabbed walkthroughs on product pages are a native radio group, so they respond to arrow keys and are announced as a group by screen readers. They need no JavaScript.
- Motion — the headline animation stops entirely when your system is set to reduce motion, as do all transitions.
- Colour — body text meets or exceeds 4.5:1 against its background; large display text meets 3:1. Colour is never the only way information is conveyed.
- Zoom and reflow — the site reflows to a single column without horizontal scrolling at 320 CSS pixels and at 400% zoom.
- Images — decorative images carry an empty
alt; meaningful images carry a description.
How we test
Keyboard-only traversal of every page; VoiceOver on macOS and iOS; automated axe-core checks in the build; contrast measured rather than eyeballed; and layout verified by measurement — document scroll width must equal viewport width at every breakpoint on every page — rather than by looking at a screenshot.
Known gaps
Being specific is more useful than claiming full conformance:
- Product pages contain detailed interface mock-ups that illustrate what a product looks like. They are conveyed as decorative composition; the surrounding prose carries the same information. A screen-reader user gets the meaning but not the picture.
- Dense data tables inside those mock-ups are presented visually and are not exposed as semantic tables.
- HyveMaps and Phonos Player are in beta and have not completed a full WCAG 2.2 AA audit. We will not take either out of beta until they have.
- We have not yet tested with JAWS or Dragon NaturallySpeaking. That work is scheduled.
